See Concert info page for hair information. This is different depending on the age group and/or genre.
HAIR:
You MUST have hair ties the same as, or as close as possible coloured to your child’s hair.
BOYS: Clean, tidy hair out of their face.
For both Photo Day and Concert Day the information below is here for Makeup and Hair requirements. All items can be purchased from our onsite dance store Danza Sorella or often at your local chemist etc.
MAKE-UP:
Make-up is a light base foundation, blush, brown/gold eyeshadow and a little bit of mascara for all students. Red lip for girls and brown/nude for boys.

Photo Day is one of the first times that students (along with Parents) get to see costumes from other classes/routines.
When is it?
As mentioned in your Concert Commitment form that you signed back in September, we had assigned both Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th for our photo day.
Where is it?
Photo Day this year is being held at our York St studio, (100 York St Beenleigh)
Please note that we will do our best to break the days up so that students (and parents) are on site for the least amount of time possible.
Photography
Last year we unfortunately encountered extreme time delays with our photographer and as such we will be doing our photography in-house. Proofs are set to be available to view and purchase on Concert Day at RPAC. This will reduce time delays and ensure smooth delivery of your precious memories.
What photo does my child have to be in?
Students will be required to be in all of their group photos with the rest of the class and will have the opportunity to have a single photo in each costume.
What about sibling / friend photos?
To ensure that we run to schedule, all sibling / friend photos MUST be requested in advance. A form will be available on the PHOTO page shortly.
What to arrive in?
Students are to arrive with Hair and makeup done according to their first routine pic. ALL jewellery must be removed. If you are unable to take out a piercing due to infection or it being new, it must be covered with a nude coloured band aid or tape.
ALL nail polish must also be removed, including toes.
How do I know which costume is for which dance?
Hopefully as your children have tried them on in class they should know, but we will be releasing a detailed list of all costumes and routines with shoes, headpieces etc. all included.
TIGHTS:
Dance stockings MUST be worn. These are available in our dance shop located at our York St studio. All classes are to wear CONVERTIBLE MATTE skin toned tights. This means they have a foot hole in the bottom of the stockings so they can be folded to be worn for bare feet.
All shoes must be clean and presentable. Please wipe over Ballet shoes and and Tap shoes. Little Stars students require Ballet pink ballet shoes and Tan tap shoes.
No shoes will be worn for Little Stars Jazz, Mini Acro or Jazz Magic.
Please see above for all hair and makeup requirements
What should I bring other than costumes?
Please bring appropriate snacks and water for the duration. NO STICKY DRINKS OR SNACKS are to be near costumes.
Do Parents/Guardians stick around during photo time?
YES. Your student will need you to help get them changed and ready for the next photo .
Can we take pics of costumes?
Yes but you are not allowed in the professional zone (Studio B) . Lets create a buzz around our show this year. Make sure you tag us in any of your social media posts (Instagram @stepright_studios, facebook @steprightstudios)
PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW STUDENTS to take these costumes to Show'n'tell etc until AFTER ALL Performances.
I don’t have my students costume yet. What is happening there?
This year we have asked on BAND if you could provide a NAMED Costume Bag with Hangers for each routine. This will help us be able to send costumes home all together. All of the costumes are currently being delivered to the studio and collated. Most costumes will be ready to wear as is however some may require a minor adjustment. If this is the case you will be notified. If in doubt your best bet is to have a multitude of safety pins on hand. Costumes will be billed in the coming days less any deposits already collected so your prompt attention to invoices is appreciated. After that time costumes will begin to be sent home. I am very happy that we have been able to source so many wonderful and affordable costumes within Australia given the current international postal constraints. Once handed out they are your responsibility. Replacement of lost items are not be possible due to ordering constraints so please be careful with all items.
What is the go with the concert shirts being handed out?
These are our performance shirts and the students love them and wear them many many times in the future. We do ask that students keep these shirts tidy until concert day as our annual whole studio photo will be taken in this shirt on Concert Morning so this shirt MUST be WORN ON ARRIVAL on CONCERT DAY (03/12/2023)
Please be reminded that there are a lot of students photographed on photo day and scheduling has been carefully done to ensure the least disruption to your day and to reduce the number of students on site at any one time. Please ensure all students are present and ready at their required time so that the day runs smoothly. Students not present when called will unfortunately miss out. This is a fun experience and will enhance their excitement for Performance day.
What about whole studio photo?
We are doing things a little different this year due to having separate concerts for the preschoolers however as mentioned above, this is being done on Concert Morning so that we don’t have to keep anyone around longer than needed on Photo day.
Let's make it a fun day for all :)

WHAT TO WEAR
COSTUME POLICY
All Preschool Costumes are purchased from the studio and are yours to keep! Your children will love pulling out their first costumes in years to come and reminiscing.
Costumes will be given out prior to Photo Day. Please ensure that these costumes are NOT WORN at home, Kindy, Preschool, Nana's house etc PRIOR TO CONCERT DAY. Often Costumes have been sourced from overseas and difficult to source again if lost or damaged.
SHOES & STOCKINGS
Little Stars Ballet - Pink leather ballet shoes with beige/tan matte convertible stockings
Little Stars Tap - Tan tap shoes with tan/beige dance stockings
Little Stars Jazz - No shoes with tan/beige convertible dance stockings folded up for bare feet
Lil Groovers Hip Hop - Black flat soled canvas shoes (preferrably lace up but can be elastic if finding sizing is difficult) with tan stockings & black crew length socks
MiniAcro - No shoes, stirrup/convertible tan/beige dance stockings
Note: Every female student from preschool age up needs to wear tan stockings (flesh coloured)
Stockings and shoes (exc Hiphop which are available KMart or BigW) are available for purchase at our onsite dance shop Danza Sorella in the lead up to concert.
UNDERWEAR
Please be aware that under stage lights, dark coloured or patterned underwear does not look good under light coloured costumes. Please make sure your child is wearing flesh coloured underwear.
HAIR
Female Preschool Dancers will require a Slick, Middle Part, Space Buns.
You will need to use a lot of hairspray/gel and a fine tooth comb to achieve the slick look and possibly multiple elastics. Please also use an elastic the same colour as their hair. Depending on the amount of hair the student has Bun Donuts may be useful however not needed if students have a lot of hair. Bun pins and Bun net will be required however please DO NOT use any visible scrunchies etc on the outside of the buns. Please see above for pictures
Please note, for boys neat and tidy hair is all that is required. No colours or crazy hairstyles please.
MAKEUP
Stage makeup needs to be heavier than normal day makeup. Please try not to cake it on or make it look like a mask as this does not look natural on stage.
Apply a moisturizer first so that a make-up base is easier to use.
Apply make-up base. Foundation needs to be darker than what their normal shade would be. Apply pinkish brown tone blush to cheekbones.
Apply brown eye shadow on lid – work from the inside corner along the lash line. You may also like to use white under the brow to highlight. (apply lightly for boys)
Define the eyes with black eyeliner pencil. Use along the top and bottom lash lines.
Add lots of black mascara to both top and bottom lashes.
Apply red lipstick (brown for boys).
See Makeup pics above

No Jewellery is to be worn (including earrings), please leave all jewellery at home. Also, please remove all nail polish.
